Arc is from Final Fantasy III, and specifically the DS version (where the characters got canon names).
Fourteen year old bookwormish Arc is one of those chosen to go save the world in the game. Due to the job system in the game, the player can freely choose his job; his personality doesn't limit his job choices. (Though it's not unusual for people to play him as the Squishy Mage!)
His default icon pictures him as a Geomancer, but he also has icons picturing him as a Freelancer (default job), Scholar, Devout, Red Mage, and Onion Knight (see the Final Fantasy wikia article on the Final Fantasy III Onion Knight if you're familiar with the Dissidia game series).
